Background:
• Request received from the Alberta Campus-Based Treatment Centres
• Youth ages 12-17 years are provided counselling and treatment
• Introduced at the 2024 Diocesan Conventions and the ABMK Provincial Convention
Treatment Centre Locations:
• Edmonton – Yellowhead Youth Centre
• Lac La Biche – Elk Lodge
• Lethbridge – Sifton House
Timeline:
• September 2024 to May 2025
• To be concluded at the 2025 ABMK Provincial Convention in Grande Prairie
Immediate Goal is 30 quilts
(More quilts are welcome to accommodate the revolving nature of the program)
• Preference: Twin Bed Dimensions: 70” X 95” (72 x 96 or 75 x 95)
• Lap Quilt dimension: 60” x 72”
• To be made with cloth or fleece (not a knitted or crotched blanket)
• Heart-shaped gift tag to be pinned to each quilt (as attached)
If you wish to Participate:
• Communicate with parish council members via emails or at your meeting
• Select a project lead in your parish.
Suggestion – Parish Council Service Chair
• Provide Anthea Berdan with your project lead’s name & contact information
Collection method:
• Quilts will be collected at the Regional Meetings by Diocesan Officers or contact Anthea Berdan for information.

Spread warmth & organize a Coat Drive
The Salvation Army is teaming up with the Diocese of Calgary to ensure everyone has a warm coat this winter. Donations of new and gently used coats and other winter wear are sorted and distributed by Salvation Army throughout various programs to be shared with those in need.

The Salvation Army Community Services (Calgary) Mobile Warming Station is looking for volunteers! If you have a passion for working with vulnerable populations, this position may be for you!
Volunteers will meaningfully engage with participants accessing the Mobile Warming Station, support Warming Station staff, monitor center activities, and provide a safe and clean space for all.
As well, here is a list of items the team has come up with that you could hand out at the warming station:
- Men’s winter jackets
- Winter gloves
- Warm socks
- Blankets
- Boots for men and women
- Scarfs or neck warmers
- Snow pants
- Backpacks

- Blessed are those whose caregiving efforts are unjustly criticized—or who are falsely accused of not caring about others—because of your love for your care-receiver and your love for God, who has asked you to help His beloved son or daughter. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven.
